CREATETO — An affordable housing community at 805 Wellington St. W. in Toronto would provide 382 homes, 432 bike parking spaces, 14 car parking spaces and 1,316 m2 of private amenity space for future residents. It also includes a heritage component.

TORONTO – The vision for an affordable housing community at in Toronto has been revealed.

According to CreateTO, the project, also known as 53 Strachan Ave., would deliver a mixed-income community with purpose-built rental homes as well as the heritage conservation of the existing Garrison Flats community garden on the 1.4-acre site.

The actual building located onsite is The Strachan House, which was formerly home to a supportive housing program operated by the Homes First Society. It is now vacant.

CreateTO is proposing an eight-storey build on the east area of the site and a potential 30-storey project on the west side.

It would provide 382 homes, 432 bike parking spaces, 14 car parking spaces, and 1,316 m2 of private amenity space for future residents.

The project is currently in the planning stages with community feedback recently sought.

Detailed design, site plan application and construction could begin in late 2026, or 2027.
