VICTORIA – Raji Mangat, KC, was appointed a public-interest board member for a two-year term ending May 31 and will assume the role immediately.
Mangat is a practising lawyer with more than 20 years experience in constitutional and administrative law, explains a release. She recently served as executive director of West Coast LEAF, a non-profit legal organization.
Mangat fills a vacancy created when William Laird Cronk was appointed chair of WorkSafeBC’s board of directors on Feb. 26.
The Workers Compensation Act requires the board includes representation from a range of professionals with relevant expertise. In addition to representatives from sectors such as health care and occupational health and safety, the board must also include representatives of workers, employers and the public interest, the release adds.
