CALGARY, ALTA. — The Calgary Construction Association (CCA) is welcoming news of the Government of Alberta’s decision to accelerate the process of approving major projects.
According to a release from the CCA, the implementation of an expedited 120-day provincial approval process “stands to create opportunities for builders, and the trades who support them for projects.”
With the association representing more than 900 member companies and over 100,000 workers, “timely approvals for major projects keep and grow investments in our province, encourage new development, and extends the runway of predictable work for our members.”
The province also stated it would aim to improve co-ordination between government and regulatory bodies while also ensuring Indigenous consultation and environmental protections.
“We appreciate the Government of Alberta’s commitment to providing early clarity for projects,” the release notes. “We look forward to seeing further details as legislation is brought forward and remain committed to working with our members, our partners, and the provincial government to improve processes for all major projects within our province.”
