CALGARY, ALTA. — Graham Construction recently announced it has been selected as the general contractor for the Stoney Trail and Memorial Drive OverpassStatusAwardValue$54.6MLocationMemorial Dr, Calgary AB T2A 6L6SectorPublic – CityTypeBridges / TunnelsData as of July 2, 2026 in Calgary, Alta.
The project will extend Memorial Drive eastward to “improve mobility for new and growing communities in southeast Calgary while strengthening travel connections across the city,” explains a release.
Project components include:
- Two 30-metre single-span box girder bridges
- A 97-metre, two-span post-tensioned bridge with two-metre NU girders
- Earthworks
- MSE walls
- Noise walls
- Roadworks
- Deep utility installations
- Utility relocations
- Storm pond construction
- Landscaping
Construction is scheduled to begin this summer, with completion scheduled for fall 2028.
According to the City of Calgary, in November 2024, council approved $60 million to advance the Memorial Drive Extension project. In November 2025, administration recommended an additional $45 million of funding for council’s consideration as part of the 2026 Budget review. The estimated project cost is $105 million.
